U11 ACADEMY GIRLS 2007-2008 AGE GROUP PROFILE The U11 age group is a transitional period in the academy program is we go from the 6 v 6 format on a smaller field to the 8 v 8 format on a bigger field. Emphasis continues to be on individual player and skill development with a high concentration being on the player’s ability to master the ball. At U11 however we start to introduce tactical play and teaching players how to play as units on the field and aid in their decision making process. As with our U9 and U10 academy, all training sessions will be conducted by a professional coach in a professional environment. Our goal, as always, is to create a training environment that is both challenging and rewarding for the girls. At this level players are now broken out into Gold, Blue, White etc. and grouped according to ability for both training and games. As this is still academy there will be player movement amongst the roster at the discretion of the coach keeping in mind that the ultimate goal is the development of the individual player. TRAINING All players in the U11 academy player pool will train at the same time. However training groups will be separated for tactical or technical topic instruction. For the fall of 2007 our training times and days are tentatively set for Mondays & Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:00pm. There are also other opportunities to do extra training by attending a skills clinic. We offer at no extra cost a fast footwork clinic, a shooting clinic and a goalkeeper clinic. The two team training days are mandatory while all skills clinics are optional but highly recommended. Training for the fall season will begin the week of August 6th and run through the week of November 5th. GAMES Starting the weekend of September 8th through November 10th we will play between an 8-10 game schedule. We play academy friendlies whereby no scores or standings are kept, keeping in line with the academy philosophy of the U.S.S.F. Travel is required as we play half of our games at the Whitlock complex here in Coweta and the other half in and around the Atlanta area matched with other clubs such as ASA Extreme, Concorde Fire, AFC Lightning, AFU, Peachtree City Lazers, Henry County Thunder, TYSA Triumph and Gwinnett Soccer Association just to name a few. We play the majority of our games on Saturdays however there may be the odd Sunday afternoon game or a Friday evening game with one of our local neighboring clubs.
