U10 ACADEMY GIRLS 2007-2008 AGE GROUP PROFILE

The U10 age group in academy is where players continue their soccer education having had a start either in the recreation department or having graduated from the U9 academy.  It is the future of the Cannons select program.   Training sessions are lead by the professional coaches running professional sessions.  The academy focus at U10 continues to be on ball mastery and technical ability.  We are not concerned with wins or losses or building of teams.  Our focus is on individual player development.  We will meet this objective by continuing the player pool process.  Establishing this player pool allows us to train together and give us the flexibility to put players in different situations always with the development of the player in mind.  We will create a training environment that is both challenging and rewarding for the girls.

TRAINING:

All players in the U10 academy player pool will train together.  For the fall of 2007 our training times and days are tentatively set for Mondays & Thursdays from 5:30pm-7:00pm.  We offer at no extra cost a fast footwork clinic, a shooting clinic and a goalkeeper clinic.  The two team training days are mandatory while all skills clinics are optional but highly recommended.  Training for the fall season will begin the week of August 6th and run through the week of November 5th.  There will be no set rosters during the fall season.  Rosters will be mixed as evenly as possible with talent equally distributed.  In the spring season however kids will be placed on their game day teams according to their skill level and ability at the discretion of the head coach.

GAMES:

Starting the weekend of September 8th through November 10th we will play between an 8-10 game schedule.  We play academy friendlies whereby no scores or standings are kept, keeping in line with the academy philosophy of the U.S.S.F.  Travel is required as we play half of our games at the Whitlock complex here in Coweta and the other half in and around the Atlanta area matched with other clubs such as ASA Extreme, Concorde Fire, AFC Lightning, AFU, Peachtree City Lazers, Henry County Thunder, TYSA Triumph and Gwinnett Soccer Association just to name a few.  We play the majority of our games on Saturdays however there may be the odd Sunday afternoon game or a Friday evening game with one of our local neighboring clubs.
