Registration Open! Grade 8 Referee Course- 2/27/16

Grade 8 Referee Course- Registration Open on GameOfficials site

Attention New Referees!  Centre Soccer is hosting a USSF Grade 8 Referee Certification course on 2/27/16 at the Centre Region Offices ( 2643 Gateway Dr., State College, Pa 16801 ). 10am-3pm.

This course is needed to referee in PA West Travel games. Refereeing is great way to earn money!  Ref's earn $20-$45 per game based on the age group and referee position. Centre Soccer needs referees for games from U10/U12/U15-18, and Adult.  Referee's must be two years older than the age group they are refereeing.

There is a new procedure for earning this certification. Please follow these instructions.

  1. Complete the 3 required background checks, and send to in to PA West Referees. (Instructions here). Note, 2 of the 3 checks are virtually immediate and occur online with an email response. For minors, the 3rd clearance is an affidavit that is simply printing the form and taking it to a notary to sign. For adults, the FBI Clearance requires fingerprinting, and takes a few weeks for a response. It is highly recommended you start this asap!

Save your clearance documents to provide in Step 2.

  1. The site that manages all referee courses is Game Officials. Go there to register for an account, and sign-up for the course. Upload your clearances into your account. Centre Soccer reimburses the registration fee if you referee with us during the year. Contact our Referee Assignor for details (Rod Khayat- [email protected]) .

  2. Complete the online pre-course work.

  3. Go to the class on 2/27/16

  4. Centre Soccer’s Referee Assignor is Rod Khayat. For questions on refereeing for Centre Soccer, please email Rod at [email protected]

EDIT: THE INFO WAS ADDED BELOW FROM PA WEST REFEREES- Here is their description of the process and troubleshooting procedures:

Western PA Referee Certification (formerly PA West Referee Certification)

We have moved from the PA West system to our own.  The new system is managed by Game Officials.  You can reach the site at: https://wparefs.gameofficials.net

Before you certify, you need to have sent your 3 security clearances, and possibly a work permit, to Peggy Neason (SRA).  Please use the following as process flow:

    1.      Get the following 2 security clearances (PA Child Abuse History Clearance and PA State Police Criminal Record Check).

    2.      If you are 18, or older (or will turn 18 in 2016), you need to get a FBI Criminal History Report.

    a.      If you are 14-17, you can get a notarized affidavit instead of using the FBI Criminal History Report.  Once you are 18, you will need to get the FBI Criminal History Report

    3.      Once you have the 3 clearances (or 2 and the affidavit), MAIL a copy to Peggy Neason at 82 Lookout, Monongahela, PA 15063 (no emails accepted)

    4.      If you are 14-17, and still in high school you need to get a Work Permit (get at your school guidance office) and mail a copy to Peggy Neason.  You must be 14 before you can register to take any referee entry level class.  There are no exceptions to this rule.

    5.     Once all of your clearances are approved (meaning that they come back to you with no issues) you can register on our website at https://wparefs.gameofficials.net
